Bandwidth requirements and CODECs
To use the Euphonex system, there are a few requirements to be met:
- High speed, stable Internet connection. The minimum requirement
is 64 Kb/s in each direction or a total of 128kb/s. However
we found ways to reduce the amount of bandwidth that our system
requires without reducing the quality of service. We have introduced
some system enhancements that have reduced the amount of bandwidth
to 20 Kb/s or even lower.
In order to best take advantage of
these enhancements you should review the codec settings of
your device or softphone to make sure that the best available
codec is selected. The enhancements we have made are specific
to the way the user agent codec negotiates with our service
and if you have previously forced a specific codec you might
not be taking advantage of this enhancement.
- SIP IP phone, you can use a softphone if your PC has speakers and microphone or a headset.
- A personal computer for account management.
- SIP IP phone must use G729 as the low bandwidth CODEC since Euphonex does not support G723. Euphonex supports the following codecs.

The device has one PSTN port; built-in V.90 modem RJ11 connector
(data rates from 14.4K bps to 56K bps) with dual 10/100 based-T

To verify connection reliability you can use packet tracing
software to reveal network problems. We recommend a product
called "Ping Plotter". You can download a free trial version
